: : Nice to see the board up and running again. I'd almost given up hope on it.

: : Well, 9 months after my elbow surgery for ulnar nerve entrapment, i'm going in again. I have very little use of my right hand now. It's very disappointing. I've lost faith in the orthpedist I went to before and will have a neurosurgeon do it this time. Hopefully it'll be done correct and hopefully I'll have no permanent disability. Not good for a cop on his shooting hand. I'd better start looking for another career.

: : Anyway, Oct 9th, they'll be doing a medial epicondylectomy (cut off the end of the bone in the elbow) and ulnar nerve submuscular transposition (detach the muscle, place nerve underneath and reattach the muscle). Needless to say, this is more traumatic to the elbow than the previous subcutaneous transposition I had done in January. Anyone else have submuscular transposition? How fast is the recovery? How long were you off work? I'm not one to enjoy sitting at home. Any information you can provide is appreciated : - )

: Hello Steve
: I'm sorry to hear that your Cubital surgery results have been so disappointing. I've recently been diagnosed with ulnar nerve entrapment too, as well as the cts. Our NHS here is very slow in the UK so I don't get to see a hand surgeon until 12 December. The surgery you are to have sounds pretty drastic. I'm afraid I don't have any knowledge of the procedure but do wish you well.

Hi,
I have had the surgery that you are about to undergo. I had the Submuscular ulnar nerve transposition and the lateral epicondilectomy. I had the procedure done in July of 2003 and it took me approximately 3 months to get back to my nornmal routines. I am a mother of 4 very active girls and it did slow me down for awhile but I did recover very well. I give alot of the the credit to my Orthopedic surgeon. I was so impressed with him that on December 10th I proceeded to have my left elbow done also. I am about 2 1/2 weeks into recovery and this one is not going as well as the previous surgery. My prervious surgery was much more complicated than this one but I am still having alot of pain and numbness in my last 3 fingers on my left hand. I do start therapy on December 29th so I guess I leave the rest up to the Therapist. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Let me know how it goes.
