Hi, LuAnne... Everything you've stated is perfectly normal. The sensitive feeling around the incision will subside in time, it feels like all the nerve endings are right at the surface of your skin :) Even the "feeling" of the incision being open on the top layer is normal, I freaked Debbie out here on the board the first time I mentioned it LOL She demanded I go back to the surgeon, pronto :) After a while that top layer will dry out and you can trim it with scissors so it doesnt look so bad, just don't pull the dead skin because it's connected to new skin. I think it takes a good 6 months for you to feel no discomfort at the incision site when you move your thumb, soooo don't worry, you're doing fine.... I couldn't stand to wear the brace after surgery, that really irritated my hand, I guess everyone is different... It will be a year in February since I had surgery, and the only complaint I have, regarding the surgery, is I still can't put any weight on my hand, it still hurts.... I have tendinitis, or something, in my hand, wrist and thumb, but that is another story :( Good luck to you, you sound like you're doing fine, I guess the key word is patience.... Linda
