Rather than Carpal I'd guess you have something going on with the ulnar nerve (that funny bone feeling). Look up Cubital Tunnel Syndrome nad you should find some web sites that show the parts of your ring and your pinky that are affected by it. Interestingly enough I never found anything on the thumb and forefinger either but I did have (and still do) have pain and weakness in them but they think it may be related to not being able to use the other fingers for thier intended purpose and thus I overstrained those two. Maybe an accurate assessment since after the two weeks casted the thumb and forefinger did not bother me but they are now that I am using the hand again

: Sorry to just jump onto your board all of a sudden. I have a question that you guys may be able to answer. For the last couple months I have had tingling/numbness in my ring and pinkie fingers, and pain in my thumb and forefinger when I try to make a fist, which is usually an unsuccessful attempt because I have no strength in my entire hand. My grip is so bad that I can't even button my own pants. I've been wearing a brace on my wrist for quite awhile now, and it seems to help my thumb and forefinger, but as soon as I don't wear it for a day, all "recovery" is lost. Does this sound like Carpal Tunnel? My doc is totally unresponsive to my questions, and so I don't know who else to ask. Anyway, thanks in advance!
