: What a sorry state things are in.

: Have you changed your mind on the old school of thought after you wrote http://www.ctsplace.com/ctsboard/messages/2819.php ?

: I am tried to learn as much about cts as I can to help get the best treatment for myself.

: Flash your hormones and you are right back in the old school.

: Good luck to Alan and you. He could do better since he's a man and won't pull out hormones. I won't do that either. It won't help.

: : : Hi, Alan... I'm glad your surgery went well and you're mending nicely. You'll be able to tell when you can use a hand brake again comfortably without hurting your hand. Six weeks seems more reasonable but some heal faster than others. I'm glad you'll be able to be compensated by your employer, I hope it's easier there than it is here :) Good luck and please let us know how you're doing.... Linda

: : Hi Alan
: : I'm really pleased to hear it all went well too. Don't go rushing back to work! Great news about the claim too. Hope you'll continue to post with progress on that, as well as your hand.

: : I had a chat with a solicitor who specialises in personal injury. He said that if I used him I'd have to pay up to £400 up front to get a specialists report which states my condition was caused by my job. He also told me it was free from Unison & reassured me that the solicitors they use in my area are very good so I'm taking his advice. Unison told me they've had 4 failed claims where women got absolutely nothing for their cts. The examining surgeon was none other than the arrogant b******d I saw in December. Apparently on every woman's report he wrote that their cts was due to their age (i.e. hormones) - the old school of thought! My own solicitor told me that (thankfully) the man doesn't do so much Medical-Legal work these days. If I ever saw that man again it would be too soon. Cubital Tunnel Syndrome is more common in men than women apparently so if they try that one on me, I'll give them hormones LOL

Hi Jessie
Nope I haven't changed my mind at all. I agree that the majority of 30-50 something women with cts probably got it due to some hormonal fluctuation or thyroid problem, diabetes or obesity, rather than plonking away at a keyboard all day. I certainly didn't use a keyboard before I got cts. The 'old school' may very well be right - how would I know? I don't have proof & neither does anyone else! I don't have a problem with CTS though!! I didn't try to sue anyone because of it either. I had the operations & moved on. I now have a new problem - Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. Perhaps it's due to hormones - who knows but the object of the exercise is a game to see if I can win! OK? Just a bit of fun. :-)
