Hi

I think I have a form of self-induced CTS. I'm 45 and race a sailing boat called a Laser.

This requires me to grip a rope tightly for extended periods (generally a few hours, with breaks). During the sailing season, my fingers will sometimes go numb during a race and most nights I will wake up at some stage with numb fingers.

During the off-season, everything returns to normal.

I was thinking of having surgery, but wondered if there were any recommended books on exercises etc that I perhaps should try out first.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Greg.
