I've had work-related carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms in both hands in the past. I also play a little recreational guitar. I had open release surgery on my frethand 10 months ago and with a little effort and a little luck I'm currently without symptoms in either hand. I stretch my hands before I put them to work/play, and break as often as I can. The stretches were actually given to me post-op but they've kept my other hand limber as well.

Some guitarists with CTS have pain, some have numbness, some have both.

I'd see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis, as that is VERY important. Here's some good CTS info. Some other conditions can mimic the symptoms, so learn as much as you can.
