the surgery called "open" is a cut in the palm of the hand, starting about in the middle and going down 3 or 4 inches. the mini-open is a 1" cut below the center of palm and ending above where the carpal tunnel is. the endoscope is a small cut in the wrist and maybe another small one in the palm.
