I had surgery on 1/15/04 on my dominant right hand. I had cts and a cyst removed on my wrist at the same time. I am an HVAC installer so my job too is pretty demanding. I juggle 3 x 5 pieces of razor sharp sheet metal on an eight foot ladder all day. at least I used to. My hand is completely useless now I can barely turn on a faucet or turn a doorknob without severe nerve pain. like a bad toothache or worse, getting kicked in the groin. My doctor claims it is all normal, however several people on this board and my famoly doc say that this is not normal. I'm in the process of sorting all of this out with my lawyer as far as what happens next. I can tell you this : there is no way I will be going back to my old job. My Surgeon is a work comp insurance whore so all he cares about is getting me back to work asap. He did not like me telling him that I was not going back to work. In fact he acted like he did not hear any of it, nor did he write it or any of my symptoms in his notes. Thank god for recording devices.
Court will be fun with this clown. Anyway that's my story. My advice is to think twice about the surgery. If I could do it over I would like my right hand how it used to be. Oh yeah and pay attention to your doc, if they don't seem to listen to you or act like they care, go to a different doctor. good luck!
