: hello all, my question: Is it o.k. to ask your employer who there work comp. lawyer is? is it ik to negotiate with them on what you will settle for out of court on a work comp. claim?

Yes, you ask a Lawyer that You have Hired not the Company Lawyer. BUT...... do you even need a lawyer???

I got on this page and everyone was Soooo quick to recommend and even Refer a lawyer. When I called a number of lawyers (workman's comp) they said, Are you getting Disability Checks? Are you getting Medical Treatment? Are you getting Therapy? My response Yes, YEs, YES. They replied So What do you need me for!

In the state of Texas it appears that What they give you is what you get. If you are like me you might be thinking you will be Compensated for Loss of function in your hands etc. But from what I have found at least in Texas this is NOT the case. This is why Workman's Comp in Texas was formed. You get what they give you. Sure your Doctor can contest Ratings like for MMI but other than that, that's it.

If anyone knows other wise then Tell Us your Story. And not one of those my lawyer helped me sO much. But then not saw specifics.

I saw a person on here say that over and over and when I asked how, I was referred to the Specific Lawyer. This Lawyer then tells me I should got a a Specific DR and say, such and such, and let the Doc know that So and so lawyer refferred me. Yeah I don't think so. It sounded like a Scam. I don't want a scam I wanted help.

Please don't go ONLY by what you read here. Investigate it yourself and then make a wise decision. There is wisdom in the counsel of many.
Good Luck
Ric
