My hand stayed wrapped up for 1 1/2 weeks, and then they removed the stitches. The doctor put a very small ACE bandage on my hand after the stitches and told me to do light movement; however, he did not suggest any physical therapy. : The main problems that I’m having are, when I reach for something a sharp tingling runs down from my arm to my hand. Also, two inches around the incision it is numb and I also have some pain in the palm that feels like a knife sticking into it. : Thanks, : Maurice Godwin I would hypothesize that you could have some scar tissue developing that is sticking things together. I would suggest requesting a referral to a therapist to do something now, before it gets too scarred down. You should get it evaluated, and ask about mobility exercises, before it gets a chance to get worse. I was given instructions for scar tissue massage, to break up the scar tissue before it could get bad. Just remember, that scar tissue massage will be uncomfortable to painful if done strongly enough to affect the scar tissue. Seek professional therapy, would be my suggestion.
